David
Snowdon
A New Promising Name In British Crime Fiction,
David Snowdon Delivers His
Second Novel, “The Mind Of A Genius.”
The Mind of a Genius follows his first novel, Too Young To Die, and
confirms Snowdon as a prolific writer.
The Mind of a Genius is an easy read with an interesting plot and
seductive characters, interweaving a story that keeps the readers
attention to the highest, till the very last page. Snowdon has been
able to repeat the winning formula in his second novel, The Mind of
a Genius, a book written with style and maturity.
Special Agent, Jason Clay from the MI4 is hired to find a secret
formula that was invented by the famous British scientist, Malcolm
Prince. The only weak element in Clay’s strategy to accomplish his
mission is Laura Prince, the beautiful wife of the scientist, who
Clay has to seduce in order to obtain the formula.
But the CIA, the Denmark Intelligence, the Australian Intelligence
and many other very determined individuals are also after that
formula, and can’t wait to get their hands on it. The competition is
fierce, but who’s going to win?
The story develops as a travel through the world; with the action
starting in London, then moving onto Copenhagen, Hong Kong and
Australia.
Clay appears to be right man for the job; extremely handsome and a
natural charmer, nothing could be easier for him than seducing a
beautiful woman in order to obtain a top secret.

"Snowdon
found his stride in this second book of his and it is
certain and strong....The descriptions are accurate yet
minimal, the dialogs convey a natural feeling and the
plot surfs the edge of plausibility."
PageOneLit.com: Where did you grow up and was reading and writing
part of your life? Who were your earliest influences?
David Snowdon: I grew up
in London, and as a child, reading was a regular occurrence. I
started reading newspapers and magazines from a very early age. The
writing started later and I wrote my first novel in 1984.
I remember reading
William Shakespeare’s Macbeth and Julius Ceasar as a child at
school, and later on in life, I read some thriller novels, and they
were my earliest influences. But the urge to write a book had always
been there, even from a very young age.
PageOneLit.com: Briefly describe your new book, The Mind of a Genius
– How is this book different from other mystery espionage novels?
David Snowdon: The Mind
of a Genius is about a famous British Scientist who invented a
formula that could change the world. Nobody knew what the formula
was, but everyone wanted to know about it. And the MI4, CIA, The
Denmark Intelligence, The Australian Intelligence and agents from
all over the world were desperate to get their hands on it. In
addition to that, there were many other interested parties, and they
couldn’t wait to get their hands on it either.
The main thing that
distinguishes this novel from other espionage novels is that this
espionage thriller will take you all over the world.
PageOneLit.com: Who is Malcolm Prince? Who is Jason Clay? How do
both men effect the plot?
David Snowdon: Malcolm
Prince is the famous British scientist who invented the formula that
could change the world. And Special Agent, Jason Clay is the MI4
Agent who was hired to obtain the formula. But there’s a catch. Clay
has to seduce Laura Prince, the beautiful wife of the scientist, in
order to obtain the formula.
Both men are crucial to
the plot as they both play very important roles. Prince is the only
guy who knows what the formula is about, and Clay has to seduce his
wife in order to get his hands on that formula. I’ll leave the rest
to your imagination.
PageOneLit.com: Your settings in The Mind of a Genius travel from
London to Copenhagen to Hong Kong and Australia – How did you
research your settings?
David Snowdon: Well I
live in London, and I visited all of the other countries prior to
writing the book, so I know the countries.
PageOneLit.com:
In a mystery adventure/espionage story, in your
opinion, which is more important and why – plot or character?
David
Snowdon: I believe that a good plot and good characters go hand in
hand. The plot has to be sound for the book to be credible. But on
the other hand, the characters also have to be good and interesting
for the book to be interesting. A book with a good plot and boring
characters will result in a boring or an uninteresting book. And on
the other hand, a book with a poor plot and interesting characters
will result in a book based on an incredible premise.
PageOneLit.com:
The Mind of a Genius would make a great film – if
Hollywood called, who would you cast and why?
David Snowdon: It’s
every authors dream to have their book turned into a Hollywood
movie, and if Hollywood were interested in The Mind of a Genius,
that would be a dream come true. And I hope it comes to pass one
day. If it does happen, I would like to see CIA Agent, Lucas Steele,
who happens to be one of my favourite characters in the book, played
by Denzel Washington. In the book, Steele is suppose to resemble
Washington, and I’m sure that Denzel Washington would make a very
good Lucas Steele.

What did you learn from writing The Mind of a
Genius?
David Snowdon: I first
used the plot in The Mind of a Genius, in an unpublished book that I
wrote in 1984. Twenty-three years later, I decided to use the plot
again in The Mind of a Genius. What I have learnt from writing The
Mind of a Genius is that diligence and determination are the keys to
success.
PageOneLit.com:
What do you hope to achieve from The Mind of a
Genius?
David Snowdon: I hope
that it becomes a best-selling novel and a blockbuster movie in the
mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
PageOneLit.com: Do
you have any hobbies? What are they? How do they enhance your
writing?
David Snowdon: I like
reading, table-tennis, going to the movies, socializing and
travelling. By socializing, I meet a lot of interesting people. And
by travelling around the world, I visit a lot of interesting places.
Ideas for a book can sometimes come from a combination of meeting
interesting people and visiting interesting places.
