Jacquie has appeared on the Joy Night TV Musical Praise-A-Thon, TBN Praise The Lord, Lift Him Up-Kansas, and Soldiers for Jesus Christ.

After being healed five times from cysts and tumors in her head and breast, Jacquie believes the call on her life is to establish believers in God’s Word.  “Jesus died to set us free – free from sickness, poverty, and despair.  For far too long we have lived lives without experiencing victory.  The Lord spoke to me early one morning with words that changed my life.  The Spirit of the Lord said, “I am going to set you as an example before the people of a victorious life.”  Because of all I have experienced: sickness, lack, abuse, and depression, I know the freedom and victory that comes from applying God’s Word.  Because I walk in victory, God is going to use me to lead others to victory in Christ Jesus.  That’s why I must stay transparent before God.  As Christians we need to set an example to the lost.  Our mandate is to be a vessel the Lord can use to SET THE CAPTIVES FREE.” Visit the author online at http://www.jacquiehadnot.com

PageOneLit.com: Where did you grow up and was reading and writing a part of your life? Who were your earliest influences and why?

Dr. Jacquelyn Brown-Hadnot: I was born in a small town in the Bootheel of Missouri - Hayti, MO, but I was raised in St. Louis MO until my parents died.

Even as a child I loved to read - I read everything - even the cereal boxes.  I was like a moth to the flame when it came to reading.

When I was a teenager I loved poetry and Nikki Giovanni was my  favorite poet.  It was through reading her work that I came out of my shell after my mother died.

PageOneLit.com: Why do you write?

Dr. Jacquelyn Brown-Hadnot: I write to express all that God has placed in me.  Again, as a child I wrote poetry to express the feelings that I could not otherwise express verbally.  As a child I was self conscious about my voice and writing became my voice.

Cry Aloud was not the first book written - it was the second published  but the 4th written.

PageOneLit.com: You do a lot of with your ministry - Talk a little about your ministry and your spiritual goals for yourself/others and God?

Dr. Jacquelyn Brown-Hadnot: The Lord birthed a unique ministry through me in 2001 - It Is Written Ministries.  An awesome vision from God to provide a safe haven for His people to receive love and catch a glimpse of Him.  At It Is Written Ministries we feed the homeless under the bridges food, clothing and the Word of God.  We operate a food pantry that provides food baskets to needy families.  We also have a clothing pantry and individuals can come shop for FREE.  There is no charge to anyone in need.  We visit local nursing homes every Christmas providing gifts to people who might not otherwise receive a visit during the Christmas season.  We teach weekly classes on subjects ranging from Handling Your Finances God’s Way to How to Study the Bible.  Finally, we offer weekly prayer and bible studies.

PageOneLit.com: Let's talk a little about "Faith" -- Your life has been one of tragedy (I'll let you discuss here what you feel comfortable discussing) - What I want to know is how have you been able to overcome tragedy and maintain your strong faith?

Dr. Jacquelyn Brown-Hadnot: “Faith”  my entire life has been a walk of faith.  I am no stranger to tragedy, but it is because of the tragedies in my life that I know without question that:

God is a healer:  I have been healed 7 times.  I have had 4 surgeries on my head for cysts; one surgery on my breast for tumors; diagnosed with macular degeneration, but healed by God; and developing a heart condition, but again healed by God.

God is a deliverer.  He delivered me for marital abuse to become a strong woman of God who is able to tell other women that there is life after the love is gone and the abuse begins.  There is a way out.  In fact, because of my abusive marriage, the Lord birthed a short story entitled “Jayla’s Story” to reach women who have suffered the pain and humiliation of abuse.  Jayla’s Story shows women how to be over-comers and live a victorious life through Jesus Christ.

God is a provider:  When I was virtually penniless after the surgeries and most of my business was gone, God restored my business and everything I lost He restored 100 fold.

PageOneLit.com:  You are a walking testimony , in fact you have been called a "living testimony" -- What do you tell others that are going through a tragedy? How does one overcome mentally/spiritually/physically from a loss or setback?

Dr. Jacquelyn Brown-Hadnot: In the face of adversity, you must know without question that the Lord is right there for you.  He said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”  I have been called a “living testimony” and I know that to be true because there was a time in my life when I didn’t want to live and I tried to take my own life.  But God said “not so” because He had work for me to do.  Overcoming in every aspect of your life can be summed up in scripture,

Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus.  Start with the Word of God, the Bible is your roadmap to a renewed mind.  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

RO 12:2

Being an over-comer means more than just surviving - it means having confidence that the Lord will shelter you in the face of the storm.  No matter the storm.  Listening for his voice to lead and guide you through the tough times, standing unmovable and unshakable in the midst of all to see victory come your way.

PageOneLit.com: Your new book is "Cry Aloud, Spare Not!: A Prophetic Call to the Fast God Has Chosen for You" (BEST BOOKS AWARD WINNER - USABOOKNEWS.COM) - When and where did you decide to become an author and where did the 'seed' for this book come from?

Dr. Jacquelyn Brown-Hadnot: Adversity dictated that I become an author to tell the world of the saving power of Jesus Christ.

The seed for Cry Aloud, Spare Not! Came from my 7th illness.  I lost the use of my left arm and I began to develop a heart condition.  The day I was to be admitted to the hospital, I cried out to the Lord for direction because I was afraid.  Then in my infinite wisdom(smile) I decided to call a fast.  I remember making the statement, “If I call a fast, then God will heal me.”  The Lord’s reply was, “so you want something from me?”  I thought that if I fasted God would heal me and unfortunately with so many of us in Christendom we go to God with a grocery list of “needs” and “greeds” - expecting God to fill our grocery list.

The Lord directed me to lay out before Him on the threshing floor and read the healing scriptures.  After reading so many times I lost count, I stopped at Isaiah 58 and the revelation of my grocery list to God hit me like a ton of bricks.  So the book was birthed out of a need to take from the hand of God and not from the heart of God.  I must say that Cry Aloud, Spare Not has taught me a valuable lesson about what gets to the heart of God.

PageOneLit.com:  in "Cry Aloud, Spare Not!: A Prophetic Call to the Fast God Has Chosen for You" you discuss prayer and fasting -- Lets speak simply as if we are talking to a child, what is prayer? What is fasting? How do you pray? When do you pray? Why should you pray?

Dr. Jacquelyn Brown-Hadnot:  Prayer is simply communicating with God.

Fasting is abstaining from the things that satisfy and gratify the flesh so that you can hear God clearly.  Food is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to fasting, there are many things that keep us from hearing the voice of the Lord i.e. television, sex, drugs, money, friends and the list goes on.  Anything that is done in excess can and will eventually become your “god” because it replaces the need for the true and living God.  You cannot serve two masters… (Matthew 6:24).

How do I pray, well I pray in the car, at my desk, in the shower, on my face, on my knees, while I cooking dinner, while I’m shopping.  There is no man made formula for prayer.  Again, it is communicating with God.  Anytime and anywhere.

I pray all the times.  There are times when I am watching television and I am praying - not where others can hear, but in my heart I am seeking God.

We should all pray to get to know the Lord on a more intimate level.  The Spirit of the Lord spoke to me one evening with these words, “for far too long my people have been living on the surface OF me, they KNOW OF me, but they don’t KNOW me.”  If you want to know the heart of God - PRAY.  If you want to know the plan God has for your life - PRAY.  If you want clarity and direction for your life - PRAY.

PageOneLit.com: How does 'Fasting' bring a better view of God? How long should someone fast?

Dr. Jacquelyn Brown-Hadnot:  Fasting brings a better view of God because the things that flesh desires are rendered ineffective and the Spirit of the Lord can be heard with clarity. In other words, FLESH DIES and the SPIRIT LIVES.  The Bible teaches that the Holy Spirit cannot dwell in an unclean vessel.  In a sense fasting cleanses the vessel thereby making it acceptable to the Holy Spirit to move about freely.  Fasting is a key element in bringing us to a point of repentance of our sins.  God calls us to be holy because He is holy.

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?  For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body. 1CO 6:19-20

The length of a fast is based on the person.  Anyone with an illness or who has never fasted before should consult a physician before attempting a food fast.  Also, I recommend purchasing a book on fasting to understand fasting in the natural because Cry Aloud, addresses fasting in the spiritual.

PageOneLit.com: "Cry Aloud, Spare Not!: A Prophetic Call to the Fast God Has Chosen for You" is a special book and will be blessing for anyone who reads it -- You have a chapter talking/preaching/discussing "FLESH IS DEAD" - Please explain.

Dr. Jacquelyn Brown-Hadnot:  The Chapter FLESH DIED TODAY came from a message I preached regarding killing the things of the flesh.  In fact, the message was preached in front of a casket as the Spirit of the Lord addressed Self Life Issues that keep us from going to another level in God.  Issues such as pride, self-pity, self-vindication, self-loathing, selfishness.  There are many self-life issues that each of us must address.  As for me the Lord began to show me - ME and it was not a pretty sight.  We must deal with our self life issues if we are to ever grow in God,

PageOneLit.com: In "Cry Aloud, Spare Not!: A Prophetic Call to the Fast God Has Chosen for You" -- you talk about the fact that few churches in the US have 'food pantries, free clothing stores or some form of outreach ministry" - Why do you think this is?

Dr. Jacquelyn Brown-Hadnot:  In the book of James, External religious worship [religion as it is expressed in outward acts] that is pure and unblemished in the sight of God the Father is this: to visit and help and care for the orphans and widows in their affliction and need, and to keep oneself unspotted and uncontaminated from the world. The Amplified Bible James 1:27

Ministry in the church as it addresses  the needs of the people is in decline.  We have mega structures with no real ministry.  We are a nation of great wealth, but an even greater population of working poor.  Before we can feed them the word of God we must address the most basic of needs - food, shelter, clothing and love.  At It Is Written we are available Monday thru Friday, unfortunately we don’t have Sunday services because we are not a church - pure outreach ministry, but I have so many of the people we minister to ask for a Sunday service.  Their response is usually, “I have been hurt in church, but I will come here because there is so much love here.”

Don’t misunderstand, I have been in church most of my adult life, but I see the need for the church to stop living on the surface and go deeper into the things of God,  Stop preaching at the people and start reaching the people.

PageOneLit.com: What's next?

Dr. Jacquelyn Brown-Hadnot: I’m waiting on God for the next leg of this journey.  I know that the next book is being birthed.  When it is released is entirely up to the Lord.

We are in pre-production for an upcoming television show, “Light for Your Path.”  God began this new journey after I finished a recent 20 city music tour ministering the music from the CD “His Mercy Endures Forever.”  God is awesome like that, right in the midst of obeying His directive for this season of the journey, He begins to drop nuggets for your next journey.  Thank God that He makes sure that you finish the course you are on before beginning the new journey because our finite minds cannot comprehend the magnitude of the thoughts and plans that He has for us.  Our little heads would implode.

PageOneLit.com:  What was the last book you read?

Dr. Jacquelyn Brown-Hadnot:  His Manifest Presence by Don Nori - my deepest desire is to grow deeper in the Lord, deep calls unto deep.

PageOneLit.com: Do you have any hobbies? What are they? How do they enhance your writing?

Dr. Jacquelyn Brown-Hadnot:  Yes, my hobbies are reading, writing, decorating, chess, horseback riding (great time to meditate) and I love old movies and television such as An Affair to Remember with Cary Grant and Mission Impossible from the 60’s.

My writing is enhanced by:

1.  Keeping notes on thoughts and ideas that come to mind.

2.  Prayer

3.  Research
