Pageonelit.com: Where did you grow
up and was reading and writing a part of your life? Who were
your earliest influences and why?
Kevin Johnson: I am a native of Richmond,
Virginia, graduating from the Richmond Public Schools and Virginia
Commonwealth University (B.S. in Business and Finance). I have
always been an avid reader and began writing articles for my
job about eight years ago. Each article was published in national
magazines with readership over 20,000 people. My earliest influences
were church leaders, my maternal grandmother (Granny) and my
Mom and Dad.
Pageonelit.com: Why did you write
GIVE GOD THE GLORY?
Kevin Johnson: GIVE GOD THE GLORY!
is my personal testimony about how good God is and has been to
my family (wife and three young sons) and I. I was led to write
about His glory in my life while attending a "team building"
training course in March 2000 in New York City. This is the 1st
of a series of 5 books. The title will be the same, but the subtitle
will change. Each book will be released on March 31st, 2003,
2005, 2007, and 2009.
Pageonelit.com: Tell us about GIVE
GOD THE GLORY? Where did the title come from?
Kevin Johnson: Give God the Glory!
challenges its readers to desire a closer relationship with God.
In doing so, our connection to, and relationship with, Him unleashes
the power that is needed to fulfill ones divine purpose.
It is written for the Christian and non-Christian alike. The
author enthusiastically embraces Gods Word for his life
and, through the words of his subtitle, encourages his readers
to know God and do the will of God as it relates to their
lives. This book is systematically
divided into two parts, with three chapters each. Supported by
the Scriptures throughout, the central theme of each chapter
focuses on specific strategies that challenge and encourage each
of us to Give God the Glory!
The title was well researched through amazon.com
and RR Bowker to ensure that it was not being used. This title
is so appropriate for my intent - to give God the glory in everything
that I do because that is my responsibility as His child.
Pageonelit.com: At book signings,
what do readers say to you about their interpretations of GIVE
GOD THE GLORY? What do they like about the book?
Kevin Johnson: I receive many wonderful
comments at booksignings and from people who read the book. This
particular book, my first in the series, has received glowing
remarks from book editors, clergy, general readers, and book
reviewers for magazines and newspapers. See below:
When pondering the big question, What
is the meaning
of life, some readers may find comfort and answers
in Give God the Glory!, a book written by ministry
leader Kevin Wayne Johnson. Give God the Glory!

with Gods. Topics in the book are designed to be
helpful to family situations and personal
relationships. Within the six chapters of the book,
there are specific instances to encourage readers to
give a little bit of themselves everyday to God.

A wonderful book that helps the reader
to view acts of
faith in the authors life, which can be translated into
strength and sustained faith for the reader. Kevin
Wayne Johnson joyously embraces the words of God through
the Bible and his acts of Christian faith. This book is
a great book for those on a faith journey. It will
strengthen their understanding of living a life of faith
and expose what it truly means to Give God the Glory!

Give God the Glory! offers
useable information that can be referred to time and time again
in your library. It covers diverse topics conducive to the enhancement
of family relationships. This work is also easy to read and will
prove to be enjoyable and enlightening. Johnson encourages his
readers to Know God and Do the Will of God Concerning Your
Life which is practical use of a most appropriate subtitle.
He enthusiastically embraces Gods word for his life and
expresses it in a way that gives readers incentives to do the
same. - Purpose magazine, Book Views, Columbus, Ohio
Pageonelit.com: What general advice
do you have for writers who just completed their first book?
What do they do now?
Kevin Johnson: My advice is to believe
in what you have written. Be passionate about it! Continually
market and promote it for 3 years.
Pageonelit.com: Tell me about your
publishing experience -- Is it a difficult process to publish
on your own?
Kevin Johnson: My experience started
off great. I located a publisher with a track record who advertised
great prices to produce a quality book. Then, reality set in.
The publisher of choice did not/could not meet my expectations-
they took too long and they
charged for every little thing. They also could not reproduce
a quality cover. Thus, I established my own ministry - Writing
for the Lord Ministries (www.writingforthelord.com)
- and took control of the publication of my book(s). My Pastor
recommended an excellent printer, based in Naples, FL, and now
my ministry produces its own quality books and articles to enrich
our readership. Now that I thoroughly
understand the process, others can come to me for help.
Pageonelit.com: Are you working on
a follow up? Or something totally different?
Kevin Johnson: My follow-ups are
as follows:
March 2003 - Give God the Glory! Called to be
Light in the Workplace
March 2005 - Give God the Glory! In our families
March 2007 - Give God the Glory! In our churches
March 2009 - Give God the Glory! TBD
Pageonelit.com: What was the last
book you read?
Kevin Johnson: I just completed reading
two books simultaneously:
Billy Graham, God's Ambassador
The Photobiography of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King,
Jr.
Pageonelit.com: Do you have any hobbies?
What are they? How do they enhance your writing?
Kevin Johnson: My hobbies are studying
the Word of God, reading for knowledge (not for pleasure - I
don't read novels and fiction), constantly reflecting on my personal
relationship with God, through Jesus Christ, travel, swimming,
and relaxing with my family.
