PageOneLit.com: Where did you grow up and was reading and writing a part
of your life? Who were your earliest influences and why?
L. E. Fallon:
I grew up in Clearwater, Florida in a time when the only fragrance
floating through the air was orange blossoms. I had a normal upbringing
with happily married parents, who took especially good care of their
family. We didn’t have much, but it was made up with a lot of love. My
parents took us to church and we had a strong family unit, and we made
it through some difficult times with a sense of humor. Laughter was
always important. My family was pretty creative in art, music and
writing, though not professionally. I had a pretty broad imagination
from a fairly young age and would usually jot down little snippets,
stories and poems. I would fold them up and usually tuck them away in a
shoe box for safe keeping.
My earliest influences...hmmm....It seems I have always had a book in my
hands of some kind. One of the first books I remember reading was back
in Jr. High School. The book: Jonathan Livingston Seagull, by Richard
Bach. That story probably more than any other during that time changed
the way I thought.
I learned – Anything can be accomplished if you set your mind to it,
persevere with a determined spirit and no matter what - keep trying.
Reading JLS then turned me toward other motivational type authors, such
as, Norman Vincent Peale, Og Mandingo and Napoleon Hill.
PageOneLit.com: Why do you write?
L. E. Fallon:
It
is a real source of creativity. To make something thought provoking,
emotionally charged, and exciting come to life from nothing is
fascinating to me. I always seem to have some type of story, poem, song
lyric or something coming to me. I stay open to all the influence and
inspiration I can receive. There are times where I can’t even believe
the awesome words and imagination that come through my thoughts. That
truly is the Power of God blessing me, and I believe my gift is writing.
I also really like creating fictional characters; naming them, fleshing
them out, and giving them souls, and also determining their
personalities, their opinions, thoughts and characteristics. The whole
process is a rewarding journey and fulfilling at the same time.
PageoneLit.com: Briefly discuss your book TRIP TO PARADISE.
L. E. Fallon:
Trip
to Paradise is overall a Romance. However, the story isn’t really the
typical boy meets girl, nor does it have a traditional ending...
In my book, Paradise is not necessarily a place, but a frame of mind and
spirit.
I actually started writing it many years ago, and kept it tucked away,
and when I finally decided to get something published, I pulled out this
story, and cleaned it up, rewrote quite a bit, edited, and rewrote some
more, then sent it in.
PageOneLit.com: Explain the title TRIP TO PARADISE as it relates to the
story/book.
L. E. Fallon:
Trip
to Paradise is a purely fictional story with some facts sprinkled in.
Paradise is a word that takes on many different meanings in the book. It
is mostly about a girl who is more than ready to take some time off from
work. To relax after working so hard for years. Then the story takes on
life and becomes more about the circumstances and situations that follow
her decisions and changes her life forever. Probably the moral of the
story would be: Paradise can be found anywhere and everywhere - never
give up, even during the most difficult and trying times of your life,
there is always a silver lining.
PageOneLit.com: Who is Trisha McCord?
L. E. Fallon:
Trisha
is a normal everyday girl who works at an average job She has an average
life, and she basically just went through life day to day. Through
scrimping and saving, she was able to finally afford her dream vacation
of an Alaskan Cruise. But because of certain choices she makes, her
dream trip may not happen. She is challenged in ways she never imagined,
and she becomes a woman of courage, who has more faith, fortitude and
strength than she even gave herself credit for.
PageOneLit.com: What is it about the romance genre you enjoy?
L. E. Fallon:
To
me, the story of Love never gets old, no matter how many different ways
the story is told. There is always a new wrinkle, or obstacle to get the
boy and girl together.
PageOneLit.com: What do you hope to achieve with TRIP TO PARADISE?
L. E. Fallon:
I personally would love to be on the NY Times best selling author’s
list. But even more than that...I'd like to be successful in giving my
readers an outlet from their daily struggles in their lives and bring
them stories that capture their attention, feelings and emotions. To
relate that we each have the power to make paradise anywhere we decide
to.
PageOneLit.com: What was the last book you read?
L. E. Fallon:
Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas.
I absolutely love his books, and can
barely put them down when I pick one up. His books are page turners. I
have read one right after the other for just over a year now. Talk about
a master story teller – I think he may write a manuscript every ten
minutes.
PageOneLit.com: What's next?
L. E. Fallon:
I
actually have several novels (of differing genre's) that I am currently
working on, but I am not sure quite yet which will be the next one out
of the gate.
PageOneLit.com: Do you have any hobbies? What are they? How do they
enhance your writing?
L. E. Fallon:
I
enjoy reading, I learn so much just by reading various authors – how to
better engage the reader. How every character should have a voice and
each plot should bring the reader to some type of closure – whether or
not the story ends where it does.
I update my website quite frequently with blogs and other things to keep
my fans up to date: http://www.publishedauthors.net/lfallon
I also scrapbook some, and I am into taking pictures – mostly of nature
and historical places. These are my outlets away from writing, but even
when I am not writing, it seems I am always in the process of creating a
story.
