PAGEONELIT.COM:   Where did you grow up and was reading and writing a part of your life? Who were your earliest influences and why?

Laura McGinty: I grew up in Northern Virginia, about 15 miles South of Washington, DC.  My parents always had a well-stocked and current library of books, and I was an avid reader from an early age.  I loved their library and read whatever books appealed to me.

Creative and professional reading and writing have always been a part of my life. Encountering other people’s unique ways of expressing their ideas, stories, and discoveries gives me a wonderful tapestry of perceptions to consider.  I’m fascinated with the way authors combine and re-combine concepts in original ways.

My interests in reading, like music, have always been very eclectic. When I was about 12, I read There Is a River: the Story of Edgar Cayce by Thomas Sugrue.  I was thrilled by that story as it seemed to validate my seemingly “very different” perceptions of things.  Around the same time, the books, Stranger In A Strange Land by Robert Heinlein and The Spy Who Came In From the Cold by John Le Carre had a great impact on me - the first for the fantastic possibilities it presents; the second for the reality shifting concepts.  Of course, like most young girls, I was a huge fan of all of the Nancy Drew detective stories as well.  Who doesn’t just love a great mystery?

PAGEONELIT.COM:  Why did you write Messages of Truth for Mankind - The TRUTH of Who YOU are will set You Free

Laura McGinty:  In a sense, the book helps the reader explore a great mystery.  As one reader put it, the book really does “give words to the still, small voice within.”  The very nature of the book challenges the reader to pay attention to that voice and question what she or he holds to be true about him or herself.

Most of us live within limitations imposed by belief systems that condition us from an early age.  We learn to accept those beliefs as “truth.”  Our thoughts and actions almost always follow those beliefs and most of us never seriously question them.  The limitations of our belief systems and thought patterns may serve to keep us living “safely” or in accord with our family, neighbors, expectations, etc., but, for most of us, they prevent us from living powerful, extraordinary lives that we truly love.

I wrote Messages of Truth for Mankind because, now more than ever, it is important for people to awaken to the true creative power that we are.  It is essential that we find the courage to be and express the power that we are.  Each person’s unique talents and abilities are required to bring forth the world we truly desire – one of peace, free and full self-expression, and one that makes us feel good to live in.

There is nothing outside of us that will make our ideal world happen - no otherworldly miracle or magic wand that will just take care of it for us.  Our full participation is required.  Transformation occurs within the individual before it ever occurs in the world.

I wrote Messages of Truth for Mankind to assist people with beginning the personal transformation to full self expression.  I wrote this book to remind us that we are the power that transforms our lives and our world.

I wrote this book with the desire to lift and lighten the spirit of mankind. I wrote this book to help us challenge the “truths” that saturate our lives.  I wrote this book as a way of “singing” the Truth to each of us that we might remember the wisdom within us and create the lives we desire.  Finally, I wrote this book to remind us that the most important thing any of us can ever do is to be and live the highest and best that we are, so that our very lives serve as models of hope, possibility, and transformation for those whom we live among.

PAGEONELIT.COM:  In Messages of Truth for Mankind - The TRUTH of Who YOU are will set You Free - You write, "It's NOT about you, and it is all about You." Explain.

Laura McGinty: Let’s face it.  Most people live self-centered, self-consumed lives.  Most of us are stuck inside a view of ourselves – a view formed by parents, friends, family, society, the work we do, the dramas we create and participate with, and the stories we make up about the events in our lives.  The view we hold about ourselves colors everything we think, say and do.  We form opinions, and make choices and judgments about how we live, based on what others might think, or what we believe about what is true or false, good or bad, or right or wrong.  In other words, our life is all about us – about our stories, our dramas, and our righteousness.

But it’s not about us at that level – not really – because, in our heart of hearts, we long for something more – something we cannot quite describe, except to say, “something’s missing,” or ‘is this all there is,” or “if only I …”  We feel as if something is holding us back, or we feel resigned to “play the cards we’ve been dealt.”

Like Shakespeare said, many of us “lead lives of quiet desperation.”  We feel trapped within our lives, complaining in one way or another.  And – here is where I say, “It’s not about you; it’s not about you as you believe yourself to be.  You are not trapped.  It’s time to get over limited perceptions of yourself and get on with creating a life you love!”

The question then is, “how do I do that?”

If, on another level, you could think about life as a play in which you are the main character and realize that how you choose, in any given moment, to express and experience yourself and your world is exactly how the world will be, then you would realize that you can alter your experience of the world by making another choice and/or altering the character you are being.  Then, you could really see that everything you think, say, and do has a tremendous impact first on yourself and then on those around you.

If we could become aware that our stories, dramas, righteousness, and judgments are just momentary choices for being that teach us something about ourselves, we could “move past” them – not become stuck and revolve around them.  We could easily embrace the gifts of the experiences; note our new awareness, and move, unencumbered by the past or the judgments or the stories, into the next moment.  In other words, it truly is all about you and how you consciously choose to be that matters.

PAGEONELIT.COM:  How does one know realize their "Soul's" purpose? What is YOUR "SOUL's" Purpose?

Laura McGinty: By connecting with one’s passion.  What are you really passionate about?  Think back to when you were a child.  What did you love?  What excited you about living?

When you were a child, you were not yet so encumbered by the ways of the world, the expectations of others, the belief systems of your family, church, school or society.  Back then, you really did have a joy for living – a passion – a certain knowing that living this life would really make a difference for you and for others.  Think back to that time and remember what it was.

The Truth of Who You Are resides in your heart – not in your head.  Your passion is your way to your heart – to your soul’s purpose.  If you review your life, you will most likely become aware of a pattern of a way of being with others that began early in your life.  That “way of being pattern” will give you a clue as well.

When I offered this same guidance to a colleague of mine, she immediately connected with her passionate desire as a child to rid people of pain.  She became a nurse and is now an exceptional nurse leader.

My sister, Peggy Soucy, remembered her passion to help people communicate powerfully with each other.  She became a national television executive and is now working on the global level.

When I reflected on my own “way of being pattern,” I realized that no matter what occupation I engage in, my purpose is always the same.  I see it clearly as I work with others.  My soul’s purpose is the upliftment of mankind.  Messages of Truth for Mankind is an expression of my soul’s purpose.

PAGEONELIT.COM:  "EXTEND THE MOMENT" - Explain.

Laura:  That phrase is a quote from Message 4 – “There are many truths; there is only One Truth.”

When we can embrace and extend the moments when, for example, we feel truly blessed, then we are operating within and experiencing the One Truth.  “Extending the moment” means to make it last, to share it forward, to revel in it – and even re-visit it at will.

Recently, I felt truly blessed when 5 people came together with one purpose that was focused on me -  to keep me safe and get me home when my car broke down at midnight in Philadelphia.  By the time I got home at 3:00 AM, I was practically dancing, feeling blessed, energized, and so joyful it was hard to contain myself within my body.

I extended the moment.  I savored it.  I expressed my gratitude in every way I could come up with.  I told the story to everyone I knew and they were uplifted – their hope in the love and caring of human beings was restored.  Center City Philadelphia’s reputation even went up a few notches in their eyes.

I told the story to the bosses of the people who assisted me.  They were absolutely thrilled and grateful I took the time to share the story, saying the story made their week.  I could feel the love and the joy all of us created into existence by recognizing our connection with, and contribution to, each other.

The men who assisted me were all recognized by their employers.  And – I intend to have an article written about them in a major newspaper.  That’s what I mean by extending the moment – a moment in which you truly feel good and fully connected with others is a moment in which you actually experience the One Truth.

The One Truth is that We Are, and that We Are intrinsically inter-connected.  We Are amazingly powerful expressions of One Miraculous Thing.  When we actually live as our highest and best expression of ourselves, amazing things happen – things that people refer to as miracles or the miraculous.

PAGEONELIT.COM:  In Messages of Truth for Mankind - The TRUTH of Who YOU are will set You Free you write - you discuss the "illusions -'Open your eyes and you will see the 'illusions'" Explain.

Laura McGinty: This message is a theme throughout the Messages.  It has to do with shifting your awareness of what is real and how it is real.

Upon awakening from a dream, we “rub the sleep from our eyes” and open them.  As soon as we open our eyes, our reality shifts from that of the dream world to that of the physical world.  It seems as if the dream was an illusion and the physical world is real.

The same process can be used to shift from the reality of the physical world to the unseen, spiritual or energetic world that exists all around us.  When we again “rub the sleep from our eyes” and open them to the energy, or the unseen aspects of our world, then the physical world may seem like the dream. The unseen world may seem more real.  Many people are becoming used to meditating and beginning to understand the shift to which I am referring.

Everything that exists in our physical world is the product of imagination, thought, desire to create, faith, planning, persistence and community.  Once it is created, we return to our imaginations – our thoughts – and invent new possibilities to experience.

When we really understand this process, it is clear that the belief systems, thought patterns, and physical, material things around us are really just illusions we created in order to experience them.  We see the world as a multitude of combinations of energy and matter.  We realize that we can combine and recombine energy and matter to create new realities, even new worlds, within which to live.

What is Real is the Truth of Who We Are – the greater energy or self that we are - beyond our physical bodies and our physical existences.  What is illusory and transitory is our physicality, our experiences, our life constructs, and the material trappings of our world.  When we open up our eyes, we can see the illusions for what they are and realize we are the power that creates them.  As a result, we develop a very strong faith in ourselves that enables us to live freely, knowing we do create, and can, create everything we experience.

PAGEONELIT.COM:  Why did you develop an audio CD for Messages of Truth for Mankind - The TRUTH of Who YOU are will set You Free?

Laura McGinty: When my son, Brian, came home from college for a weekend, he was troubled about something that was going on in his life.  I suggested he read a certain Message from Messages of Truth for Mankind in order to gain a broader perspective.  I decided to read it aloud while he read it silently.  As soon as we were finished, he was astonished by how much more he understood the Message by hearing it as he was reading it.  He’s the one who challenged me to record the book.

The language of the book is purposefully a bit archaic for modern times. Neither the book, nor the concepts within it can be skimmed and fully understood.  And – the concepts are too important to skim through.  Like one listener said, “Hearing the words read aloud in the author’s voice brings the same clarity to the Messages that a great actor can bring to Shakespeare’s work.”

PAGEONELIT.COM:   What do you hope to achieve with Messages of Truth for Mankind - The TRUTH of Who YOU are will set You Free?

Laura McGinty:  I hope that each person, who is ready to hear the Messages and remember the Truth of Who They Are, will reclaim their power, create new possibilities for their lives, and begin living the most magnificent lives they can imagine.   I hope they are filled with joy and a renewed sense of their own creative potential.

As more and more people read the book and reclaim their personal power, I hope the book plays a part in the transformation of the world from a place of hard slogs, sorrow, fear, competition, war, poverty and strife to one of ease, joy, love expressed, collaboration, peace, abundance and gentleness that respects and embraces the beautiful expression of each and every being.

I hope we finally come to realize that we truly are different and equally valid expressions of one thing – the one thing referred to as Infinite Intelligence, Great Spirit, The Intangible, God, Allah, Buddha, Infinite Spirit.  And – with that realization in play, I hope each of us begins to truly cherish each and every other one of us.

PAGEONELIT.COM:  What was the last book you read?

Laura McGinty: I‘ve been reading two books simultaneously which I finished within a day of each other: The Spontaneous Healing of Belief by Gregg Braden and Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.

PAGEONELIT.COM:   What's next?

Laura McGinty:  My second book, Answers, has been accepted for publication.  As soon as I feel that Messages Of Truth For Mankind is well on its way into the world, I’ll begin the journey of working with the publisher on Answers.

In the meantime, I am launching a company and a concept called “Leading Excellence.”  Our mission is to assist people to lead intentionally excellent lives both personally and professionally through greater self awareness, leadership, and re-connection with their personal power.  The possibility our work represents is profound relatedness, transformation and self freely expressed.

PAGEONELIT.COM:  Do you have any hobbies? What are they? How do they enhance your writing?

Laura McGinty:  Right now, launching the book has become quite a busy part-time occupation.  I am also continuing my personal transformation by participating in an extraordinary education program, building my nutritional cleansing business, and launching the Leading Excellence project.  Flying airplanes as been a passion of mine as well.

Publishing this book has been quite evolutionary for me.  I’ve come to realize, as Nathan Hill says, “One of the blessings of maturity is that it sometimes brings one greater courage to be truthful, regardless of what those who do not understand may think or say.”

My experience with the education program, coming well after I wrote both books, is helping me to viscerally experience personal transformation in a way that I can clearly document.  I am more easily able to translate the philosophical concepts into their practical applications for daily living.

In my nutritional cleansing business, I work with many people who desire a transformation in their physical being, but who seem to be stuck with certain beliefs and thought patterns and habits that prevent them from making that transition.  As I have learned more about their process, I’ve gained a greater clarity in my expression of the concepts in the books.

Finally, flying an airplane (I am a licensed pilot) is an extraordinary experience that broadens my perspective and challenges my perceptions of my own limitations.  Both of these concepts are fundamentally interwoven in all that I write.
