Pageonelit.com: Where did you grow up and was reading and writing a part
of your life? Who were your earliest influences and why?
P.C.: I grew up in Northern Europe where English is not the first, but
one of several second languages for people. Although I always had an
affinity and love for English, I struggled getting my writing skills
together as this is harder than speaking and reading. I have always been
writing as far back as I can remember. Starting with small notes,
diaries and my first play at an early age. There is something magical
about words, I cannot explain.
Pageonelit.com: Discuss your new book The Shift of the Ages through 2012
and Beyond: The Biggest Change Challenge of Our Time”?
P.C.: This book was triggered by some unusual spiritual experiences I
have had in life with time, energy and evolution. It is hard to explain,
really, but the universe suddenly started "downloading" all kinds of
spiritual stuff on me that I had to process quickly. It was not until
someone introduced me to the Mayan Calendar system and its extraordinary
explanation of the times we are living in - 2012 and all - that I was
able to put some of my experiences into a greater, more comprehensible
framework. Once that happened, I felt compelled to write and suddenly
more than half a book was finished without me realizing I did not have a
publisher.
Pageonelit.com: What is the 'cosmic-planetary cycle'?
P.C.: This is a vast or complex, spiritual-scientific subject. I think
it is only fully understood by very few people mainly because we have
not experienced or witnessed something so vast or extraordinary before.
Normally, living here on the Earth, we don't think much about our
connection to the cosmos or universe. Scientists may explore its depths
with Hubble or wonder when the next asteroid is going to hit. People
read their weekly horoscopes, so intuitively, we might know there is
more to it, which there is of course - particularly now when we are
coming into a once in over 25,000 years galactic alignment between our
solar system - Earth and the Sun - and the Galactic Centre. Wow. This
has many potential implications for our civilization. The ancient Maya
knew about this in great details over a thousand years ago. Aligning
with the center of our Galaxy - as seen from Earth through 2012 - is an
extraordinary event.
I call this "The Shift of the Ages through 2012 and Beyond" - the title
of my book - because this stretches beyond the notorious Mayan Calendar
end date.
Pageonelit.com: You write that "2012 marks a pivotal time of transition
for the world and humanity" - Explain.
P.C.:I think, this a controversial, yet unexplored issue. Perhaps the
question is, are we ready for it? We may have evolved very quickly,
technologically through the industrial and information age, but what
about our human nature? Can we learn to reconcile ourselves with our
true spiritual, human nature obsessed as we still are with the
rational-scientific or material paradigm of the past 200 years or so.
Maybe, at least for now we can agree that we have not always showed due
consideration for the consequences of our material progress with regard
to the Earth's natural environment. Just look at all the pollution,
climate change, stress and still potential nuclear disasters. We cannot
continue the endless so-called economic and population growth with 7
billion people now living on the planet. How can we? The mindless ways
we have been living in the past are now hitting our global economies. We
need to consider the interconnectedness of our humanity and its
connection with all life.
The Mayan Calendar system have laid out an evolutionary pathway -that is
showing us many things about this time if we care to listen and are
willing to transition into a new cycle, era or age for the Earth. How
else can we (more) consciously evolve?
Pageonelit.com: In your opinion, how has your career as a a
psychologist, educator and journalist helped write “The Shift of the
Ages through 2012 and Beyond: The Biggest Change Challenge of Our Time”?
P.C.: My significant, varied life experiences and professional
background have helped me a great deal. Journalism is about research,
communication, investigation and writing on different levels. Psychology
is about the human consciousness, mind and psyche. Education is about
learning. This can be quite a "handy" combination to have for anybody,
but particularly for a writer or author exploring or delving into
"spiritual" subjects.
Pageonelit.com: ""The 2012 Shift is going to be a shake up or wake up
call for many if we continue living in the unsustainable ways, we have
in the past." Explain.
P.C.: Isn't it getting pretty obvious? From the apparent "dissolution"
of economic systems to the paralysis of our political decision makers or
loss of faith by many people in some old "establishments" or
"institutions"? There seems to be a stir now, in the collective
(consciousness, as C.G. Jung would say) all over the world. People are
feeling anxious or uncertain about the future. All kinds of things are
happening to people all over the world associated with 2012. Some call
it an "awakening" or "wake up call" within or without. Others are
working on instigating sustainable changes that we can believe in and so
on. There are many different or new agendas around the world, but
strangely, they all seem to have something in common; they are really
more about who we are or where we want to go. This is obviously (going
to be) a "mixed bag" which means that the future could take us in many
directions - some negative if we are not careful. So, perhaps we need
2012 as a timely reality check point?
Pageonelit.com: What should readers learn from reading “The Shift of
the Ages through 2012 and Beyond: The Biggest Change Challenge of
Our Time”?
P.C.: A lot. First of all perhaps, about the Mayan Calendar or Prophecy
- what it is and what it is not (there has been a lot of
misinformation). Secondly, we are in (one of) the most important time
frames of (modern) human history and civilization. This is a time people
should try to understand how and where they fit in or can (better) work
with it. The book tells it as it is - no-more-2012-nonsense - and
contains a lot of useful information. It contains a work book for our
changing times. Or as the saying goes: "We are not just physical human
beings having a spiritual experience, rather we are spiritual beings
having a physical experience here on Earth".
Pageonelit.com: What are readers saying about “The Shift of the Ages
through 2012 and Beyond: The Biggest Change Challenge of Our Time”?
P.C: For instance;
"I really enjoyed reading this book"
"Buy it now"!
"An amazing account of our time"
Yes, really. You can read some of the 5 star reviews on Amazon where the
book is available. It has also been cited in a leading life style
magazine etc.
Pageonelit.com: What do you hope to achieve with “The Shift of the Ages
through 2012 and Beyond: The Biggest Change Challenge of Our Time” ?
P.C.: I wish that a lot of people will benefit from it. Like I said, the
book is quite unique. Or am I being self-conceited?
Pageonelit.com: What was the last book you read?
P.C.: have read many and still read. The last one -.I cannot remember. I
have had so many things on my mind after the book got published, it is
really a blur.
Pageonelit.com: What's next?
P.C.: That is a good question? I guess we will see how it goes....
